Berg bites into Top 5 while Leopard3 claws back in dramatic week for Sep 12 Golf Disc Rankings

Top 5 Disc Golf Discs Friday September 12, 2025

This week’s biggest disc drama didn’t come from the top of the pile, but from deep in the pack. Like a dad at a barbecue making an unexpected sprint for a frisbee, the Leopard3 reemerged with gusto, jumping back in at #26 after a 7-week hiatus. It’s the sort of behaviour that suggests a cult following, or at least a few YouTubers singing its praises. Either way, someone clearly said, “Oi, where’s my Leopard3?”

Over in the Top 10, the ever-perky Berg putter proved as immovable as a Swede in a sauna, climbing up to #5. That’s four spots up, despite being marked as ‘cooling off’. It’s like someone put a jumper on an ice cube and expected it to melt slower. Turns out, Europeans still adore their overstable gnome of a putter. The Berg continues to defy the usual physics of popularity, reminding us that a disc doesn’t need glide when it’s got loyalty.

Discraft’s Zone also deserves a quiet nod. While technically down to #8 this week, it’s warming up again. Up-and-down patterns like these often signal a disc with split personalities. If discs were people, the Zone would be your reliable mate who sometimes ghosts for a bit but always shows up when it matters.

In the stable seats up top, the Buzzz continues its unbeatable run at #1. That’s 20 weeks now. Monumental, really. Like the Queen’s corgis—always there, always loved, never outpaced. Axiom’s Hex and Crave sit smugly at #2 and #4, as if daring the Destroyer to shift from #3. Not this week. Possibly not next week either.

Further afield, the rankings revealed a bit of a Kiwi coup. New Zealand’s RPM had a stellar surge, placing three discs in the biggest climbers list. The Kotuku soared up 104 spots, and somehow the Piwakawaka rode the same tailwind. Is it regional pride? A sneaky sale? Or is someone out there doing some serious disc evangelism on the South Island?

As for brands, Discraft might need a cuppa. They slipped to overall brand rank #3, just behind Axiom and surging MVP. Could this be the start of a cosmic shuffle in the big brand hierarchy, or just a temporary wobble? Only next week knows.

So hold on to your flight charts. With discs like the Katana jetting up 120 places in four weeks, and surprise re-entries from wild cards like the Ruru, we’re in for a spicy late-September. Will the Buzzz finally budge? Will another RPM disc sneak up the charts while no one’s watching? Tune in next Friday and bring popcorn.
