Top-ranked discs on Friday August 29, 2025
Sometimes the story this week isn’t about who takes the crown, but who makes the field sit up and stare for a moment.
MVP’s Trail is doing just that. Sliding up from #6 to #3, it’s officially joined the Top 3 party, rubbing plastic shoulders with the ever-composed Buzzz and the equally stable Hex. While those two have been calmly perched at #1 and #2 like disc golf’s version of Ant and Dec, Trail’s leap is a clear sign that players are warming to its silky hyzer flips and quiet confidence. Less a trail and more a swoop, really.
The other disc scrabbling up the hill? The Zone. After a few ice-cold weeks, this very overstable Discraft favourite has reversed its cool-down with a decisive 5-place jump, now sitting pretty at #8. That’s less of a recovery and more of a rebrand—“Cooling Off”? Not this week.
Elsewhere, the Top 10 saw some shuffling, but no elbows were thrown. The Destroyer drifted down to #4, with the Crave following at #5. Both are still popular, but perhaps the shine has dulled slightly—when you’ve thrown them since your first misjudged forehand, sometimes a new grip feels more enticing.
Speaking of feel, the Berg continues its gentle slide, now at #6. A European darling, to be sure, but across the pond it’s cooling off faster than a lukewarm tea. The Glitch nudged upward to #7 and the Mako3 clung to the outer edge of the Top 10, barely holding on at #10. This quietly competitive midrange category still dominates, with 4 discs in the Top 10, despite a field filled with aggressive drivers and character-heavy putters.
Outside the spotlight, the comeback kid of the week is Innova’s Leopard3, clawing back to #26 after vanishing for seven ranking cycles. It’s not always about streaks—sometimes nostalgia slaps harder than distance.
The behavioural takeaway? The shift toward hybrid drivers like the Trail tells us something subtle but important: players are obsessing over versatility. Not bombs vs. touch shots—something that dances on the line. Something you can trust.
Next Friday promises another round of chart-top trench warfare. Will the Trail keep its momentum or was that just a strong tailwind? Same channel, same cheek—see you then.
