Top-ranked discs on Friday August 15, 2025
If discs could talk, the Buzzz would probably be smoking a cigar by now. For the sixteenth week in a row, it’s parked at #1, watching the rest of the rankings scramble like a card of AMs on a windy day. Comfortable, popular, and as reliable as a British pub quiz on a Thursday night, the Buzzz is our current cultural constant.
But while the top of the board slumbers, there’s heat further down. Discraft’s Scorch has absolutely taken off. Up 96 places in just four weeks, it now sits at #41, making it the fastest climber in what’s been a very jumpy summer. Behaviourally speaking, this kind of ascent suggests something clicked: perhaps players are finally cracking the code on controlled understable distance, or the Scorch’s flight is hitting a sweet spot for newer arms with ambition.
In a quieter but no less meaningful move, Innova’s Mako3 has wiggled its way into the Top 10, landing at #9. It hopped five spots this week without much fanfare, consistent with the Mako3’s reputation as a disc that doesn’t shout, it just lands exactly where you want it. That trait alone is invaluable in a game where taking risks can mean skipping like a stone into OB.
A notch behind, the Destroyer climbed one spot to #3, overtaking the Berg, which cooled slightly to #5. The Destroyer’s staying power is the disc golf equivalent of wearing a leather jacket and somehow still getting away with it: dependable, aggressive, and stylish in the hands of those who know how to wield it.
The middle of the pack continues its weekly jitterbug. Notably, the Wraith ticked upward to #6, and the Crave now perches at #4, further solidifying Axiom’s grown-up seat at the top table. Meanwhile, the Mamba is technically ‘heating up’ at #10, despite losing a spot. It’s the kind of contradiction rankings often throw at you… popularity doesn’t always align with upward motion.
RPM Discs made an impressive brand leap too, climbing into the Top 15 for the first time. That’s likely driven by increased visibility in Oceania, where the Destroyer, Hex, and Wraith dominate. RPM’s rise shows that home-grown players are picking locally when given viable options. National pride traded in 175 grams.
As always, next week promises more motion. Will the Scorch torch its way into the Top 30? Can anything unseat the Buzzz before we hit September? See the full Top 40 and check back next Friday for another ranking refresh.
