Top-ranked discs on Friday August 1, 2025
If you’re sensing a midrange moment coming on, you’re not wrong. The big headline this week? After months of shadow-dancing just outside the spotlight, Innova’s Mako3 has pirouetted into the Top 10 at #9. It’s been steadily climbing and finally pushed past the velvet rope, brushing aside Discraft’s Zone in the process—now sitting at #11 with an expression that says, ‘I’m not mad, just disappointed.’
This is no fluke. Mako3’s appeal lies in its elegant predictability—glidey enough for woods, neutral enough for finesse, and apparently charming enough to woo players on both coasts. A midrange making a Top 10 debut is like a character actor finally getting top billing: about time, and now everyone’s paying attention.
Elsewhere at the top, there’s more traffic-jostling than headline drama. Buzzz is still reigning at #1 for the 14th week running, which at this point feels less like momentum and more like monarchy. Hex remains perched at #2 like a loyal second-in-command, while the Destroyer holds steady at #3, grinning like someone who’s definitely got a fast car and knows how to use it.
But peek just a few spots lower and things get spicy. The Berg creeps up to #4, a subtle but telling elevation, particularly given its surging appeal in Europe where it leads the charts. The Crave drops one to #5, though it’s still comfortably nestled in the favourite-child category of Axiom’s cupboard.
Innova continues a quiet conquest with Wraith and Trail trading spots in the #7–#8 pocket, while Luna holds its breath at #10, unmoved but definitely eyeing its rear-view mirror.
Beyond the Top 10, the MVP Nomad is doing cartwheels up the ranks, leaping 88 places in four weeks to settle at #101—proof that timing and a touch of mystique can beat brute force. Also back on the grid is the Leopard3, re-entering at #26 after seven weeks in the wilderness. Absence, it seems, does make the disc more desirable.
And before we go, a behavioural tidbit: midranges now account for 4 of the Top 10. That’s not just gear talk—it speaks to a shifting culture where consistency outranks chaos. More players want to dial in form over flash.
Next Friday? We’ll see if midranges keep the momentum or if a wild driver shoots in to steal the show. Buckle up.
