Top-ranked discs on Friday July 25, 2025
The temperature’s rising in the top tier, and no one’s feeling it more than the Destroyer. Clocking in once again at #3, this Innova juggernaut is holding steady—but not quietly. With ‘Heating Up’ still floating next to its name, one wonders if it’s simply biding its time, waiting for the Buzzz and Hex to blink. In the psychological theatre of disc golf popularity, this is the equivalent of standing just behind someone in a queue and breathing loudly until they give up their spot.
Further down—but not too far—the Ballista is having a bit of a moment. Latitude 64’s long-range missile has pulled off an eyebrow-lifting 87-place leap in just four weeks and now camps out at #97. This isn’t a gentle climb; it’s a full-blown scramble up the ladder three steps at a time, driven by either a sudden wave of windy rounds or players accepting that raw chaos can be surprisingly effective if it flies well. Momentum like this often stems more from word-of-mouth and social mimicry than pure performance stats. In short: someone’s mate filmed a hero shot, and now everyone wants in.
Also of note is a reappearance from the Leopard3. Back after a seven-week sulk in the shadows, it lands at #26. Was it overlooked, forgotten at the bottom of bags, or simply resting to avoid overuse? Hard to say. What we do know is that discs don’t develop brand nostalgia while sipping drinks on a tropical hiatus. Players drove this comeback—perhaps triggered by seasonal shifts or a local tourney stand-out moment that reignited interest. Behavioral inertia meets momentary inspiration, and boom: instant resurrection.
As for the Top 10, they’re playing it safe this week. No climbs, no slips, just a lockstep parade led by the ever-dependable Buzzz. That marks its 13th week at #1. If discs had personalities, this one would wear cardigans and remind you to hydrate. Predictable, but bloody effective.
The only movement sniffing at the door of relevance is the Wave flipping spots with the River. Not high drama, but in disc golf terms, it’s like swapping driving duty with your mate because they play fewer podcasts.
Tune in next Friday to see if Destroyer finally makes its move, or if another understable upstart tries to Ballista its way into notoriety. See the full Top 40 and track your favourites week by week.
