Top-ranked discs on Friday July 18, 2025
Let’s start with the obvious: the thrumming, chart-topping patience of the Discraft Buzzz. Like a dependable kettle, it simply keeps doing its job, again holding the #1 spot without a flicker of drama. But further down the rankings, things got far more caffeinated.
The stir of the week belongs to the Discmania Essence, which practically pole-vaulted up the ladder, leaping 120 spots to land at #94. That’s not a nudge. That’s a full sprint with a tailwind. These dramatic comebacks often follow a nudge from disc golf influencers or sudden restocks. Someone somewhere must’ve shown the Essence doing magical things in a tailwind and the hive mind took care of the rest.
Sharing the spotlight, the Innova Leopard3 made a measured but equally goosebump-y return to #26 after seven weeks in the wilderness. Its revival hints at a subtle nostalgia cycle setting in. There’s behavioural precedent here: players often rekindle love for a former staple after flirting with flippier or flashier models. The Leopard3 is one of those discs that quiets the ego and rewards a good line—no wonder it’s back.
Elsewhere in the Top 10, Axiom’s Hex clawed its way to the second spot, elbowing aside the Destroyer, which looked momentarily distracted. The Berg dropped from #2 to #5—evidence perhaps that Europe’s overstable darling doesn’t carry quite the same mystique in midsummer heat elsewhere.
The Glitch continues to float around near the top (at #6), stubbornly refusing to be ignored, much like that one mate who casually scores a hole-in-one on their first ever round. Meanwhile, Discraft’s Luna quietly crept into the Top 10, whispering confidence rather than shouting it. Classic Luna move.
Zooming out, RPM made noise this week too. Not only did the Piwakawaka debut at #99 (try saying that three times fast), but three other RPM discs also turned up with notable rank climbs. It seems the Kiwis are shipping more than sheep and Sauvignon Blanc these days—there’s plastic going global.
So, what’s next? Will the Essence’s momentum continue, or will it flutter like a cheap umbrella in Brum? Has the Leopard3 reignited something deeper in the control driver crowd? And will the Glitch ever stop vibing at the top of the pile?
We’ll find out soon enough. Rankings refresh every Friday. Until then, keep your putts low and your grip higher than your expectations.
