May 9, 2025 Golf Disc Rankings: Mamba cracks Top 10 and Virus rockets 114 spots

This week’s disc golf rankings feel like the part in the movie where the quiet character does something wild and everyone suddenly starts paying attention. Let’s talk about the Virus. No, not the one that shut down global travel. We’re talking about Axiom’s sneaky understable control driver that just rocketed from #170 to #56 in four short weeks. That’s 114 spots. It didn’t even knock. It just barged its way into the conversation clutching a halo stamp and a point to prove.

Meanwhile, the innately flippy Mamba finally found its Top 10 voice, sliding up one place to spot #10. That might not sound dramatic, but this is its first-ever appearance in disc golf’s most exclusive club. For a disc that turns over faster than your Sunday pancakes, it’s been a long time coming. A quiet nod to all you hyzer-flip junkies; you’re clearly out there throwing it on purpose.

The Buzzz continues to plant itself stubbornly at #1 with the Hex buzzing right behind. These two midranges are as stable as Uncle Ron’s financial planner, showing us once again that reliability wins hearts, if not highlight reels. Over in the putter section, the Glitch is cooling off slightly at #6, though still perched high. The Pixel and Envy swapped places just below her in a mini soap opera of subtle shifts.

Leopard3 fans, rejoice: the elusive feline returned after seven weeks in the tall grass, landing at #26. It’s the equivalent of that guy who ghosted your league nights suddenly showing up with a fresh dye job and a full bag of A-tiers.

If we widen the lens to brand trends, Axiom is quietly dominating the putter + control driver categories, while Innova still flexes with crossover appeal from hybrid to distance. And let’s not glance past Discmania’s Instinct, currently plummeting faster than a misfired roller. It fell 148 spots in one go, proving that no disc is immune from a rough Q2.

Looking ahead, we’ll be watching whether the Virus continues its infection of the Top 50. Also worth keeping an eye on: the Teebird3, reemerging like a sequel people weren’t sure they needed but now secretly love. Until next Friday, keep throwing weird lines and voting with your bags.
