4/5 November, Ashton Court, Bristol, England
With the season's ranking tournaments completed and the rankings finalised, the top 16 ranked players gathered for the final BDGA event of the year.
The beautiful Ashton Court in Bristol was the setting for the tournament. Normally the course has posts and trees as targets. However on this occasion, thanks to tremendous efforts from the players of the Bristol Acers, Ashton Court had 24 baskets installed for the weekend's action. Most of the baskets were borrowed from the Quarry Park course in Leamington Spa, thanks to course owner Derek Robins.
The first day had players grouped into 4 groups of 4. Each player had 3 matches within their respective group over a 12 hole course. At the end of the first day wherever you finished in the group depicted who you would play on Sunday. The group winners went through to Sunday's semi finals and the remaining players battled it out for the remaining positions and pride.
Undoubtedly the best performance of the weekend was from Bongo Spencer Worth, topping his group on Saturday and finishing 4th overall. There were other notable performances from SHITE's Dan Massey and Bongo Jester Wilson.
The final was between Derek Robins and Si Luard. Robins always held the upper hand in the contest although it was close all the way to the end. Derek finally took the match and the trophy 2 and 1.
The course was outstanding and the effort from the local players to sort 24 baskets was fantastic.
